Etihad Cargo Transports 72 Horses on a Single Flight

Etihad Cargo was entrusted with transporting more than 70 world class racehorses from England to Kuwait after the European racing season.

The Abu Dhabi based airline has successfully transported 72 racehorses, worth a combined £36 million ($45 million), from London Stansted Airport to Kuwait City, where they will spend the winter months preparing and racing in the temperate Middle Eastern climate.

They were flown on one of the carrier's state-of-the-art Boeing 777 freighters which are equipped with comfortable seating for up to nine grooms and can accomodate up to 75 horses at once.

The Nigerian Aviation Handling Company Plc (Nahco Aviance) controls 80 percent of the local and 90 percent of the international cargo handling market in Nigeria. This was revealed by the Managing Director of the ground handling firm, Mr. Norbert Bielderman .

Addressing Aviation reporters in Lagos, Bielderman said the only local airline that Nahco Aviance does not handle is Arik and Med-View Airline including that the company controls 80 percent of the domestic market.
