NAHCO, SAHCOL WAREHOUSES RE-OPENED - CLEARING OPERATION COMMENCED

LAGOS AIR CARGO TERMINAL FINALLY RE-OPENED
Who won the war and for whom is the question you might want to ask? To Freight forwarders, it is a victory won for importers and Nigerians in general. As insider and or stake holder in the industry, we believe re-opening of the warehouse is not as important as what follows. Firstly, the reopening is more of pronouncement by the CG of custom. This is because normal clearing operation will not be visible till Monday next week. Again there are other issues to be resolved by stakeholders in order for everyone to be on the same line.

Agents will want to go further in their defense and of course in favor of importers in the area of who bear the cost of demurrage that cargo would have incurred during the closure? Also, Agents would need to re-organize his house, meet with other agencies and handlers in order to come up with better approach that would not only favor importers, but also in conformity with new agreed guideline between customs and agents. The major message here is that only skeletal services will be done this week, but regular clearing operation will properly commence on Monday. As to the release of your cargo, this should be expected from next Wednesday/Thursday. www.valuehandlers.com
