Many times, in recent time, Valuehandlers International discovered that many are not conversant with how shipping weight is calculated and their ignorance plotted them in an unpalatable condition. To avoid future dissatisfaction, hence, we provide you the formula for calculating weight of shipment.
There are three major formulas for calculating weight; which are (Actual, Dimensional and Billable Weight)
·        Actual Weight as the name implies is exactly what the product weighs when it is put on a scale. Here, it is just the product that is weighed
·        Dimensional Weight takes into account the length, width & height of the package that you are shipping. Dimensional weight takes into consideration the total package; carton, box, label, etc i.e it includes the case or cover of the product. With different formulas the dimensional weight can be calculated and if it is higher than the actual weight that will then become the “billable weight”.
·        Billable Weight is defined as the greater of the two weights (actual vs. dimensional) and this will be used to calculate the shipping rate. In other words, billable weight is what the shipper charges the consignee based on the weight of the cargo or goods. Read also: Free Logistics Services at Valuehandlers
