How to Process Your Tax Identification Number Without Hitches

Clearly, it is free of charge to complete and submit the official application form for Tax Identification Number (TIN) in Nigeria. Besides, it is legally binding on each and every Nigerian to have TIN provided you live and work in Nigeria. You are expected to pay taxes and register for your identification number. In order to be eligible for this tax identification number, you have to be receiving revenue within the territory of Nigeria.

TIN is a generic number that serves as an identification tool. It records and contains all your tax payment information including that of your business. Every citizen of Nigeria, as well as any company, is required to have a TIN. There are numerous places where you can apply for your TIN. These include the Registrar General’s Department, the Domestic Tax Revenue Office or a Customs Division Office in your locality.
Process of obtaining TIN
Go to your local (or preferred) Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) office;
Ask for all the necessary forms used in the application process;
Fill in all the blanks and checkboxes that are provided in the form;
Return the filled-in form to the tax office and show them a valid identification document (this may be your National ID Card, an International Passport, a bill or a Driver’s License);
Submit your biometrical data, which includes your passport and fingerprints
Validate your TIN on the official NFIRS site www.trade.gov.ng
